Advocating for Increased Food Handling Staff Hours in Long Term Care Homes in Ontario
The Ontario Long Term Care Action Group (OLTCAG) of Dietitians of Canada believes that the mandated hours for Food Service Workers in Ontario's Long Term Care (LTC) Homes must be increased in order to effectively provide high quality, safe, nutritious food to Residents living in these Homes. Dietitians of Canada (DC) is the professional association representing Registered Dietitians (RDs) across the country, with over 2800 members in Ontario. The Ontario Long Term Care Action Group is composed of RDs with expertise and experience in Long Term Care (LTC) homes and the provision of nutritional care to the residents of these homes.
The Long Term Care Action Group has developed a paper: "Advocating for Increased Food Handling Staff Hours in Long Term Care Homes in Ontario: Essential for Quality Nutrition, Hydration and Dining Care for our Residents" to support our recommendations for increased FSW hours. The report describes the changing face today's LTC Residents and their nutrition, hydration and dining needs and expectations. To read the complete paper, please log on to "Members Area".
