Position Summary:
The Director of Support Services is responsible to the Administrator for the management of the Dietary, Housekeeping and Laundry Departments. This includes the effective management of all resources and cost centre’s and development of a strong team that will deliver optimal service to residents and families based on legislative requirements and Specialty-Care standards embracing the Enabling Choices model.
Functions:
- Hiring and providing leadership and managing dietary, housekeeping and laundry staff;
- Managing the administration of dietary, housekeeping and laundry departments within the approved budget and as directed by the operations plan and objectives;
- Maintaining the highest standards of safety (infection, sanitation, health and safety practices) in dietary, housekeeping and laundry;
- Completing clinical care plans and assessment in conjunction with Registered Dietitian to meet the needs of the residents;
- Working with Corporate Dietitian and Operations Consultant to ensure food service meets the needs of the residents.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Food Service Supervisor (Manager) accredited or approved by the Canadian Society of Nutrition Managers or equivalent;
- Eligibility for membership in the Ontario Society of Nutrition Management;
- Minimum of three years of supervision and management experience in Long Term Care;
- Varied experience in the food industry with an emphasis on administration;
- Capable of demonstrating good communication skills at all levels;
- Ability to initiate and implement policies and procedures as required for efficiency purposes.

Food Services Supervisor (1 FT Position)
Location: Woodhall Park & Mississauga Road (supporting both homes)

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Dietary Services, the Food Service Supervisor is responsible for the effective supervision and support in the Dietary Department to ensure the delivery of optimal service to residents and families based on legislative requirements and Specialty-Care standards embracing the Enabling Choices model.
Functions:
- Supervises the preparation and service of all meals and nourishments following specified menus and standardized recipes;
- Monitors and documents resident nutritional status on an ongoing basis with referral to the Consulting Dietitian if health status changes negatively;
- Maintains operational records (ie: menus, production charts, food temperatures and refrigerator, freezer and dish machine temperatures) as directed;
- Maintains compliance with all provincial/long term care regulations and established Specialty Care requirements. Conducts daily inspection of the Department to identify/resolve any potential hazards.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an accredited program as a Food Service Supervisor;
- A minimum of 1 year experience in large quantity food preparation, financial planning and food purchasing;
- Supervisory experience in a unionized environment and/or in a long term care setting;
- Eligible for membership in the Ontario Society of Nutrition Management;
- Must be knowledgeable of the Ontario Food Premises Regulation, Food Safety Code of Practice and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating, CCHSA/ORCA, Ontario's Long Term Care Facility Program manual, and OH&S Act.
